Weekly Highlights: Historical Day for Myanmar, China and Taiwan

In the second week of November our ‘Weekly Highlights’ program detects scores of issues and events both at home and abroad which have been lined up to dominate the main headlines with each holding insurmountable importance of its own. Despite the fact that a surge of important headlines managed to make its way up to populate the minds of both nationwide and global audience, our online media platform decides to select a number of them which have become in the forefront of our headlines.
 
In the International Affairs sections, one major story has definitely attracted both nationwide and global-wide attention and that is the recently winning former political prisoner of Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi in the 2015 parliamentary election which marks a new democratic step taken by the nation from decades under military ruling.
 
Our trending topic focuses primarily on the hotly- talked about phenomena of The United President’s Barack Obama recent participation in the social media realm of Facebook.
 
Next in our What’s on Indonesia section, four stories have made its way to the forefronts of our headline. One, Italian President Sergio Mattarella’s visitation to Indonesia led to the signing of mutually lucrative $1b deals with its Indonesian counterpart. Secondly, two orangutans, mother- baby pair was rescued after surviving from raging fires in the West Kalimantan region. Thirdly, The Indonesian National Narcotics Agency has decided to assign crocodiles to become the guards of prisoners on the death row. Fourthly, the recently elected Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull made a short state visit to Indonesia followed by an impromptu visit accompanied by Indonesian President Joko Widodo to the garment market in Tanah Abang.
 
Last in our Embassy corner section, we have two events which have been selected for overage. The first one is the event held by Georgian Ambassador to Indonesia in aim of deepening tie with its Indonesian counterpart through extensive educational exchanges. The second one is Taipei’s Trade and Economic Office in Jakarta’s explanation regarding the meeting of China and Taiwan leaders in Singapore.
