Liputan6.com, Jakarta - This year’s Christmas may as well be viewed as a diplomatically progressive one between Indonesia and Russia as right on the 25th of December, Russian ‘Destroyer’ ship called “Bystriy” embarked on Tanjung Priok port of the Archipelago state to symbolize enhancement of military cooperation between the two which thus far has been desirable.

According to the information yielded by Russian Embassy in Jakarta, the mighty vessel harbored at the port from Christmas day to the 29.

The Destroyer was scheduled to harbor in a number of Southeast Asian countries to similarly intensify military cooperation with its counterparts within this region.

Bystriy vessel falls under the destroyer ship category of Sovremennyy which serves as the most unprecedented anti-surface destroying vessel used by the Russian Navy.

Apart from assuming role as a belligerent instrument to attack enemy’s vessel, the Destroyer also equips with the capacity of defending its structure and other vessels that it protects from the danger from above and at the sea.

Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Mikhail Y. Galuzin told press during briefing held on Monday 28 December 2015, that visitation aimed at the deepening military ties between Russia and attended nations, which in this case highlight is also placed particularly on and with Indonesia.

Cooperation is undertaken through extensive training on communicating and strategizing militarily with one another.

Military sector has always been playing key role in bringing Russia and Indonesia closer together. This is evident from Indonesia's continuing ambition to cooperate in the military and technical cooperation by purchasing Russian- made weapons and aircrafts for its defense equipment.

"Indonesian military TNI (Armed Forces) has a lot of Russian-made weaponry and we are proud of that. I am proud to see Russian Military serving the interest of the defense of Indonesia," Ambassador Galuzin spoke to Liputan6.com during special interview session held a while ago.
