Indonesian 'Golden Eagle' Jet Fighter Crashed Amid Aerobotic Show

US-South Korean made RI jet fighter hits rock bottom on Sunday killing two.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Unwanted tragedy involving the unexpected crash of Indonesian jet fighter occurred amid Yogyakarta Air Force Flight School 70th celebration on Sunday 21 December 2015. The U.S-South Korean made aircraft T-50i Golden Eagle was chosen to make an exclusive take of the aerobatic show on the second day of the celebration, before it spun uncontrollably and hit rock bottom at a force base complex close to Yogyakarta Adi Sucipto airport.

The rate of fatality was reportedly unbearable as the aircraft immediately bursts into flames the moment it hits the ground hence instantly killing both the Pilot and copilot. Trails of raging fire and jet-black smoke can be seen lingering around the severely impaired aircraft.

Although no one on the ground was reportedly injured, locals have expressed their utmost shock over such tragedy. One of local eyewitnesses on the ground, Puji Sendangtirto from Sleman, went to share his story of how the people in the neighborhood immediately sprinted out of their homes as they heard the loud sound of an aircraft that was flying below the normal cruising height.

“It was flying at rather low height when it passed by the area I reside in and it flew up to the northern side. The loud sound was gone the moment it headed up to the north and all I see afterwards was fumes of black smoke,” Puji shared on Sunday 20 December 2015.

Commander of Adi Sucipto Airbase Marsma Imran Baidirus further explains on Sunday that the aircraft crashed 15 minutes following midair attraction.

“It crashed down on the eastern part of Adisucipto airbase after it tried maneuvering for the aerobatic attraction. It was flying 500 feet off the ground before it reached its demise at approximately 09.53 am,” he informed.

“The plane was actually in good condition when it was used,” he continued.

The pilot Marda Sarjono and co-pilot Dwi Cahyadi lost their lives due to the crash while investigation upon the reason behind the crash still underway.
