Eminent Businessman Sofjan Wanandi Awarded by Japanese Government

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - The Japanese government recently endowed Sofjan Wanandi, a nationally prominent businessman, with an award called the ‘Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star’.

Such endowment was especially yielded to Sofjan as he has been viewed as successful in the attempt to intensify the economic bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Japan. Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia, Yasuaki Tanizaki was the one who delivered the award personally to Sofjan.

Many of the people representing the Indonesian government were there to witness such honorable bequeathing of Sofjan Wanandi. Among them were: Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Trade Minister Tomas Lembong, Minister of Industrial Affairs Amran Sulaiman, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Luhut Pandjaitan and Communication and Information Minister Rudiantara.

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Japanese Emperor and the Japanese government. This award given forever will be a reminder for me to stay humble, Sofjan said on December 1 2015.

“I sincerely hope that the relation will continue to be a desirable one for the future to come,” he continued.

Vice President Jusuf Kalla said that he is content to have such competent figure among the population of a country in which he runs with President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo.

“This is an honor for all our hard work, for the efforts exerted in deepening the tie binding the two nations,” he stated.
