Minister Khofifah: Drug-users need to be Socially Rehabilitated

Apart from getting medical assistance, druggies ought to experience social rehabilitation therefore number of users decrease faster.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Indonesian Social Minister, Khofifah Indar Parawansa considers medical rehabilitation on drugs users as arguably lacking in effectiveness and suggests the need for those who have been abusing elicit drugs to experience social rehabilitation aside of the medical assistance yielded during preliminary recovery phase.

Due to progressive suggestion made by Khofifah, Social Ministry then signals likeliness of such notion to be included in the Integrated Assessment Team (TAT).

With that being put into serious consideration, the Social Ministry can then collaborate and actively communicate with relevant institutions thereby allowing for the recovery process of drugs users to be done effectively and rapidly.

“TAT includes leading institutions such as the High Judiciary, Police Force, Health Ministry and the National Narcotics Agency. Meanwhile, Social Ministry is still excluded from it. In the near future, inclusion is deemed importantm” Khofifah shared on Sunday 8 November 2015.

“The point is, Social Ministry inclusion in the TAT will effectively and efficiently help the hastening of drugs users recovery process,” she further explained.

Minister Khofifah informs the fact that her Ministry has thus far rehabilitate at least 10 thousand drugs users. Such number covers almost 10% out of overall drugs users targeted for rehabilitation in Indonesia.

TAT sought for the rehabilitation of 100 thousand users and therefore Social Ministry inclusion is necessitated for the rapid attainment of such goal. (Akp/Ein)
