Liputan6.com, Jakarta The Indonesian government under President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla have three exclusively ambitious goals to attain within the period of time they are given to assume such roles.

Those goals include: spurring economic growth, reducing unemployment and eradicating poverty. The most appropriate strategy for them to resort to is through budget reformation as to encourage the undertakings of productive spending instead of excessively unmonitored ones.

The General Director for national budgeting from the Finance Ministry, Askolani said that the current government is particularly confident in the conduction of removing subsidy for premium oil and establishes fixed subsidy on solar as they sought to better control and attain desirable result of efficiently managed budget allocation on such matter.

“Back in 2014, subsidy on energy seems to have dominated the national budget with allocation primarily focused on that particular sector thereby causing the loss of massive national funds. But of course, we can better address such issue of unproductive spending because it has for quite sometimes hindered our major pursuance in development projects. Thus, we will no longer subsidize the well- offs,” Askolani stated on Sunday 8 November 2015.

According to Askolani, the positive alteration on the budgeting specifically for the Indonesian energy sector is deemed necessitated with allocation of spending now primarily designed to accommodate financial needs of infrastructure projects, education and health.

“With smarter spending and allocation of national budget focused on productively encouraging sectors, I personally believe that the aforementioned three ambitious goals of President Jokowi’s goals can be successfully attained,” he concluded. (Akp/Ein)
