No Delay on National Test for Students in Haze Affected Areas

Education Minister assures students in haze affected areas will receive equal opportunity to conduct national test just like other students.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - For the last couple of months, the Indonesian government has been busied with the haze issue that was caused by illegal slash and burn of forest and land in scores of region within the islands of Kalimantan and Sumatera.

The problem did not only cause for numerous cancelled flights but also intervened in the proceeding of academic institutions with schools in the affected areas reportedly stopped any academic activity due to rampantly choking haze which consequently caused for the widespread of respiratory illnesses.

This is likely to pose a problem to those currently still at school as the national test is jut around the corner.

Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture, Anies Baswedan however, assures that students residing in the affected areas will be given the same opportunity as other students across the nation to conduct the national test (UN).

He also makes further assurance claiming that the national test conduction in the affected areas will not be postponed. 

"If there is any school in the affected areas that was not active throughout the devastating period, necessary adjustments will be made including the adjustment upon its academic calendar and agenda and therefore the schedule for national test will also be made in accordance to the alteration made," Minister Anies explained on Monday (19/10/2015).
