Jokowi: TNI is Militarily Powerful due to Civilian Support

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Indonesian President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo attended Armed Forces (TNI) 70th anniversary at Indah Kyat harbor of Cilegon city in Banten early this morning to show appreciation for the forces unfailing ambition and determination in safeguarding the nation and playing crucial role as the soldiers of the nation.

"Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) is not just our hero but also a professional group of army securing and maintaining safety of our welfare from both internal and external threats. History recorded that TNI was born from the people and by the people such role was excellently played,” President Jokowi in his speech earlier this morning, Monday (5/10/2015).

President Jokowi also went to advise the forces to avoid having any conflict with civilians and most importantly prevent any unethical undertakings being done upon them.

TNI Members according to him, are encouraged to stay true to its integrity and act accordingly that they should abide the law with not a single mistake being done.

“TNI cannot forget, hurt and alienating themselves from the general population. Only with the people support can they go strong and become powerful. With unfailing support from the people, TNI was able in becoming a military power that is feared and appreciated in the international arena,” he said firmly. (Akp/Ein)
