Navy, Ground and Air Force Dispatch to Put Out Fire in Sumatera

Head of TNI instructed combined group of Navy, Air Force and Ground Force to help manage conflagration in South Sumatera.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Commander, Gatot Nurmantyo made immediate dispatch of 1.150 of its combined Ground Force, Navy and Air Force personnel following reports of large scale conflagration in two areas in South Sumatera, Ogan Komering Ilir and Musi Banyuasin.

They were deployed with the assignment of putting out the fire that had damaged most of these areas and the forest surrounding the perimeter.

The operation is led by Totok Nurcahyanto from the Marine. Gatot said that he is proud to have been leading the dispatching ceremony of these combined forces to help manage the conflagration that had swept through two areas in South Kalimantan.

The instruction was being yielded on Wednesday 9 September 2015.

"The instruction was given down to them on the evening of Wednesday 9 September 2015. I hope that they were ready by the time I give them such instruction. This counts as a humanitarian venture and though this has nothing to do with exerting military power, this is a form of defensive gesture where lives of many people will be saved," Gatot said, Jakarta, Thursday (10/9/2015).

Gatot instructed these men to monitor each site in the area as to assure that everyone is safely evacuated, and that for the forces to coordinate with local forces and government so the mission is both effectively and efficiently performed. (Akp/Tnt)
