Jakarta Governor: Labor and Government Should Negotiate Instead

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Early this morning (1/9/2015), a large group of labor worker gathered in major areas within Central Jakarta region. Labor strike is not uncommon in Jakarta and that the reason for it normally the same or only slightly different from the preceding ones.

The government even had anticipated such belligerent move and warned population to avoid areas where the rally is present as previous experiences, show that it has caused for unpleasant traffic build-up.

Even with the demonstrators continuous rallying effort to be heard by the government and effort to bring about some drastic change, the government seems to have a better plan for them and choose to overlook it. Inconclusive end between the two spur bitterness among the ralying population thereby allowing for barbarism to come and play.

Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama worried that this morning’s demonstration would have no credible impact that could spur any desirable change, and will only give more proximity between the government and the demonstrators.

He previously said that he would provide a facility for the demonstrators should they agree to undergo negotiation instead with the government. In this particular circumstance, they will be given the privilege of expressing their opinion to the Ministry of Public Work, Transmigration and Health Ministry in the most diplomatic way of interacting.

According to Governor Basuki, facilitating the demonstrators with a venue to negotiate with the government in will help reduce the escalation of usual traffic in the morning and assure peacefulness of the rally.

"So, here I am offering a place for the demonstration to take place, so if the Health Ministry nor Transmigration Ministry would like to talk and meet to the labor, they can discuss it peacefully there. It will be so much easier for involving Ministries to reach the location, I do not mind serving food as well," Governor Ahok said on Monday 31 August 2015.

He previously chose the National Monument for the negotiation to take place and he promised to give all the facility privileges if both sides agree to peacefully talk with each other. (Akp/Tnt)
