TNI Collected Weapons from Locals Residing in RI-Malaysia Border

Indonesian Armed Forces conficasted the voluntarily given self-made weapons of locals in the borderline area.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Firearms are dangerous instruments that still require authority licensing approval. Their presence pose a threat to the survival of a population, especially those who own it illegally are often the people who do not have a certification claiming his/her stable emotional and psychological conditions which should be in accordance to the universal criterion set for firearms ownership.

This is what has happened on Friday 28 August 2015 at the border separating two countries, Malaysia and Indonesia. The Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) reportedly confiscated dozens of illegally obtained firearms from the population residing in the border area.

According to the Commander of Military District Command (Kodim), M Sulistyo, those confiscated dangerous instruments have all been taken from the people who are living in the borderline area of Indonesia-Malaysia close to West Kalimantan.

"We have confiscated these weapons from the people in Ketungau Hulu district. It is called 'Rangking'. We are ultimately grateful to see the people compromising to our demand by giving all the weapons that are dangerous to us. We have collected 26 so far," M Sulistyo informed, Saturday (29/8/2015).

Though confiscated, M Sulistyo is grateful that these people voluntarily yield those weapons without having to complain that their possessions have been taken away from them. (Akp/Tnt)
