14 Indonesians Awarded for Excellent Contribution to UNESCO

Indonesian Education Minister has given an award to each of the selected 14 people symbolizing life time achiecement.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture, Anies Baswedan has graced each of the 14 individuals who have contributed in the execution of programs developed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) with an award. Minister Anies gives the UN award as part of his celebratory gesture on Indonesia's independence month and its 70th years birthday.

These 14 people are: Dr. Daoed Joesoef, Prof Dr Conny R Semiawan, Prof Dr Malik Fadjar Msc, Prof Dr Sangkot Marzuki PhD DSC, Prof Dr Indrawati Ganjar, Prof Dr Umar Anggara Jenie, Taufiq Ismail, Prof Dr Edi Sedyawati, Ir Haryono Haryoguritno, Prof Dr Taufiq Abdullah, Prof Dr Bagir Manan SH MCL, Herawati Diah, Dr (HC) Jakob Utama, and last but not least, Prof Dr Ing Wardiman Djojonegoro.

Each and every one of these selected individual has taken a crucial part in the execution of many programs designed by UNESCO. They have also shown credibility and intelligence in a wide range of subjects which include education, culture, science and communication.

In his speech, Minister Anies outlines a number of factors that make these people largely acceptable candidates to be honored by such award.

"It is different to any other type of award that I have given. What we give now is more of a lifetime achievement," Minister Anies said, Thursday (27/8/2015).
