UN Asks for Jusuf Kalla's Advice on North-South Korea Issue

Highly experienced Jusuf Kalla spoke about past reconciliation method on Aceh and Poso conflict.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla was scheduled to pay a courtesy call to South Korea on Tuesday 25 August 2015, where he assumed guest speaker role for the opening of International Peace Conference.

"I have been requested to give a speech for the opening of International Peace Conference which has been managed by the United Nation Council," Jusuf Kalla informed on Tuesday.

He further informed on Tuesday, how many countries leaders are also invited to the conference to discuss the attainment of peace amidst emerging decision reached to end the stalemate between North Korea and South Korea. Pyongyang's apologetic gesture of regretting actions over wounded South Korean soldiers, immediately led to the another decision of Seoul to end anti-Pyongyang propaganda. For many, this signals the likeliness of having peace at work.

The United Nations kindly asked for Vice President Jusuf Kalla to share his experience in alleviating the situation in Aceh and Poso. His career highlights in the past, with focus predominantly placed upon his reconciliation method, have made him a credible source of advice for similar kind of conflict.

"They want to know what have we done to appease conflicting parties," Jusuf Kalla explained.

Jusuf Kalla also took the time to meet with local businessmen to discuss potential investment opportunities as a positive exchange to deepen Indonesia-South Korean ties. (Akp/Tnt)
