Police Targets 4 Prone to Conflict Areas on RI Independence Day

Liputan6.com, Jakarta We are now only a week away from Indonesia’s 70th birthday. On the 17th of August of each year, the Indonesian red and white flag can be seen fluttering so gallantly in every Indonesian home and celebratory gesture is often expressed through traditional games and art festival.

Though many perceived such nationalistic day as holiday, there are still a portion of the population that needs to work on that day. In the absence of authority there would be no order, therefore police and other law enforcing institutions have to remain on high alert even during this period of time. They have reportedly been preparing for that day.

Their job is to assure security and safety of all because any kind of unwanted event is possible. The Head of Indonesian Police, Badrodin Haiti said to have prepared his men in welcoming the nation’s birthday and assured that his team will heighten its security measures in areas where 17 of August events are being held.

“We will surely double check on our security forces for national events,” Badrodin told Liputan6.com shortly after attending a meeting at the Agriculture Ministry, Monday (10/8/2015).

He claims to have been placing his focus on 4 regions such as Papua, Maluku, Central Sulawesi and Aceh. The reason for that is because these four regions have been identified as areas that are prone to social upheaval. (Akp/Ein)
