City of Jambi Police Unravels Hundred Cases on Drugs in 6 Months

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Police department of Jambi, a city located in the east coast of central Sumatra has successfully brought 342 drugs users and dealers to justice following its progressions within the last 6 months where as many as 227 drugs- related cases were revealed.

"Suspects include 316 men and 26 women," Jambi Public Relation Officer of local Police Department, Officer Wirmanto informed, Wednesday (5/8/2015).

According to Officer Wirmanto, among hundreds of captured user and dealer, 7 have been identified as university students.

"The number continues to grow with its widespread detected in other regions within the province of Jambi," he continued.

Following such successful arrest, Jambi Police Department immediately secured as many as 1,273,053 grams of crystal meth, 106,851 grams of ecstasy and 362,2 grams of marijuana.

'Pulau Pandang' area in the city of Jambi has been monitored for months by involving authorities as it is regarded as the safe haven for drugs users and dealers.

Patiently waiting for 6 months, 300 joint personnel from the local and regional police department finally executed the 'raid' mission within the period of this one week.

Initial arrest of 31 people also led to police discovery of other types of drugs including its instruments, firearm, weapons, and considerably large quantity of money. One dealer managed to escape the raid but survived only momentarily as joint force successfully detained him in an area in the Southern part of Sumatera. (Akp/Ein)
