Liputan6.com, Jakarta - President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo held a gala dinner on 31 July 2105 with Turkish President Recep Tayyib Erdogen who was accompanied by his wife, Emine Erdogan.

The event took place at the Presidential Palace. Vice President Jusuf Kalla seemed to have been absent from such diplomatic occasion. He was also absent from the gala dinner held between President Jokowi snd British Prime Minister David Cameron.

The spokesperson of Turkish Vice President, Husain Abdullah explained how the gala dinner was actually designed to spur effective and lucrative interactions between President Jokowi and President Erdogen.

“Tonight is a colloquial diplomatic dinner session between two Presidents and will commence at 20.00 pm. Dialogue between President Jokowi and Erdogen is acceptable in so many ways and it is a common diplomatic gesture every country leader usually do so there should not be any negative sentiment questioning Vice President Jusuf Kalla’s absence during the occasion,” Husain informed on Friday 31 of July 2015.

Husain however, said that President Erdogen is also scheduled to meet with Vice President Jusuf Kalla early this morning at 09.00 am.

In between his tight schedule, President Erdogan took the time to deliver a lecture on world peace at the National Defense Department.

He specifically highlighted world peace as goal of nations including Indonesia and Turkey and how such goal is hindered by the presence of world security issues.

Among many that are collectively felt, experienced and addressed, radicalism and terrorism seem to have earned the number one position as the most worrying worldwide security issue for the time being and probably for quite some time especially in the absence of clear strategy on its eradication.

President Erdogan explained how the attainment of world peace has been acting as the diplomatic instrument that brought the two countries closer to one another.

He personally believes that such attainment only possible when radicalism, extremism and terrorism are all collectively contained. He then showed interest of establishing cooperation on this particular aspect to address its issue together.

“Indonesia is currently fighting against terrorism. We, Turkey would like to be part of the skirmish and work together with Indonesia to help eradicate these terrorists,” President Erdogan lectured, on Friday 31 July 2015.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was immediately given a warm welcome by the Indonesian government following his embarkation into the nation. (Akp/Ein)
