PM David Cameron Forges UK Commitment to Help RI Development

British PM courtesy call spurs the furtherance of the two deepened trade ties and widened foreign investment opportunities in Indonesia.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - British Prime Minister David Cameron courtesy call to Indonesia has been viewed thus far as a friendly gesture marking the furtherance of existing cooperation between the two countries and opportunity for the establishment of new ones in various mutually- benefiting sectors.

Present at the archipelago nation since yesterday (27/7/2015), Prime Minister David Cameron said that the country is ‘the first country' visited outside Europe’ and is his first stop on a four- day trade and investment mission within the Southeast Asian region.

According to him, Indonesia holds great potentiality to economically grow heading towards positive and stable trends as long as it considers and utilizes every promising opportunity or offer it encounters.

In his speech during the second day of World Economic forum of East Asia region at the Shangri-la hotel Jakarta today (28/7/2015), he went to share his optimism about Indonesia’s ability to excel economically at both regional and international level as it has already earned the status of being the ‘16th largest economy in the world’.

Thus, Prime Minister David Cameron thinks that it is deemed imperative for Indonesia to maintain such position and look into the possibility of involving The UK in the process of achieving sustainable economic growth.

Trade and investment played key role in the relationship between the two countries and so with Indonesian President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo ambitious reformed programs set to reach full activation and effectiveness within the period of five years, Prime Minister David Cameron went to officially announce The UK’s interest and commitment to help achieve these ambitious targets through deepened mutually- benefiting exchanges of goods and services as well as widened foreign investment opportunities in the country.

“We want to be part of that growth, we want to share in that success,” Prime Minister David Cameron clearly stated in front Economic Forum attendees this morning, Shangri-la hotel, Jakarta (28/7/2015).

The UK’s commitment can immediately be justified through Prime Minister David Cameron’s decision to bring along a number of the very top British business delegations during the mission.

“The very best of British from think tank to high tech, from engineering to manufacturing, insurance to education,” he further informed about these delegations area of expertise in his speech this morning. (Akp/Ein)
