President Jokowi to Meet ASEAN Leaders

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Indonesian President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo is scheduled to make a visitation to Singapore to meet with leaders of ASEAN countries on the 27 of July 2015. The agenda of the meeting is to discuss the most feasible solution to help contain and reduce the possibility of bushfire.

"The technical meeting will cover topic such as the issue of bushfire within ASEAN countries. We will discuss the condition in each country, how can we collectively overcome such issue," Indonesian Forest Minister Siti Burbaya informed on Friday 24 July 2015.

"Each environment ministers from all ASEAN countries will have the ooportunity to lead the meeting," she continued.

According to her, President Jokowi has the capability to reduce the worrying issue of bushfire despite the fact that it is difficult to prevent the inevitability of such natural disaster from occurring especially in tropical countries such as Indonesia.

"I went to discuss this matter with President Jokowi and so we focus upon aspects which indicate the level of danger from bushfire and how it can exacerbate to other areas," she added.

She also went to explain how apart from merely natural disaster which is to a large extent inevitable, human error also contributes to the likeliness of having bushfire in this tropical country. (Akp/Tnt)
