Chile’s Lower House is ‘For’ Legalizing Marijuana

Chile has reportedly legalize marijuana with a large portion of the lower house approving such newly- implemented policy.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Since 2005, Chile has allowed the use of marijuana for medical purposes. Now, the Chilean government is close to decriminalizing the use of marijuana whether it be for medical, recreational, or for any religious reason.

With the decriminalization of cannabis, Chileans will also be aloud to grow up to six plants in a household.

The Chilean lower house OK-ed the bill by a large margin, with 68 yes's and 39 no's. The bill still needs to be approved by both the health commission and senate for full approval.

As seen on Reuters.com, communist lawmaker Karol Cariola told press that this is a huge step forward for those who use marijuana for medical purposes.

"It is a historic day for medicinal users who wish to stop being persecuted and be able to access a medicine that they can grow in their gardens," Cariola said, Wednesday 8 July 2015.

More and more countries around the world are easing up on the restrictions of marijuana.

Uruguay made a huge splash in 2013, creating the first legal marijuana market. A large number of countries have even decriminalized the drug, whether it is legal to consume it or not.
