Researcher Tells Jokowi why Reshuffle is Desirable for Indonesia

Liputan6.com, Jakarta A senior researcher from the Indonesian Institute of Science (LIPI), Siti Zuhro thinks it is imperative for Indonesian President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo to prevent holding back its ministers under him from being reshuffled. 

She believes that the structure of the cabinet is in need for a significant alteration and for the individuals currently in the cabinet to be replaced with the more qualified ones.

Her determination to convince President Jokowi in considering the possibility of reshuffling the ministers in the cabinet is due to her outlook upon these individuals which for her, have not yet done anything significant enough for them to remain in their posts.

"If we truly love our country Indonesia, we ought to tell President Jokowi about the imperativeness of his cabinet's improvement. President Jokowi should revisit the idea of reshuffle and don't let these ineffective ministers continue their duty for the next five years," Siti informed on Sunday, 5 July 2015. 

Apart from that, Siti also encouraged the party that has been backing President Jokowi since his election, The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) to continue vocalizing their support for the President’s priority programs (Nawacita).

Not satisfied with the idea of reshuffling alone, Siti went to share her remarks about how the name of the working cabinet 'Kabinet Kerja' ought to be changed due to the heavy tasks it holds.

"I believe that 'Kabinet Kerja' has to be changed to ‘Kabinet Nawacita’ because when the name is changed to that, the Ministers know what to focus on. With the current name, it makes their job so broad and uncontrollable," she continued explaining.

"Again, if we truly love Indonesia, whatever happens, President Jokowi ought to change his cabinet. We cannot force these Ministers to perform beyond their capacity," she concluded. (Akp/Ein)
