RI 'Hercules' Military Aircraft Crashed Down into Medan City

'Hercules' strangely crashed down into the area where Mandala Airlines fell back in 2005.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta One 'Hercules' military aircraft belonging to the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) reportedly crashed down into the busy neighbourhood area of the city of Medan, North Sumatera at around 12.08 pm local time. 

The military aircraft severely damaged most of the area at Jalan Jamin Ginting following its shocking crash with a number of houses and shops nearby equally demolished by the debris coming from the plane.

Authority said that they couldn't yet provide confirmation regarding the amount of casualties victimized from the crash as the investigation is still at the preliminary stage.

"It is confirmed that the military aircraft carrying logistics fell at around 12.08 pm," TNI Head of Public Relations, Fuad Basya informs through a short phone call with Liputan6.com, Tuesday (30/6/2015).

Fuad continues explaining how the aircraft departed from Medan and scheduled for an overlay at Pinang before reaching its final destination, Natuna.

"I am still unsure about the reason for the crash," he added.

According to him, investigation team from Jakarta will be deployed to the site and to perform examination on the case.

"TNI Commander has instructed officers to perform investigation," he continued.

The crashing down of TNI Hercules aircraft in the busy neighbourhood of Medan city this afternoon comes as a shock to many as it reminded the population about the crash of Mandala Airlines Boeing 737-200 in 2005 which oddly fell in the same area of Jalan Jamin Ginting, Medan, North Sumatera.
