Fearing ‘Fake’ Rice, Bogor Citizens Resorted to Instant Noodle

Liputan6.com, Jakarta The 'fake' rice issue made out of plastic in the Bekasi, West Java has generated uneasiness to those who live in the area. 

The people currently residing in the area of East Bogor decided to consume instant noodle instead. 

Such alteration is one evident of their uneasiness about the presence of fake rice.

They are very much frightened by the news and think it would be best to avoid eating rice for the time being. 

They remain firm on their decision to consume instant noodle instead of rice despite government’s assurance of no fake rice after being checked.

"We have to be smart in choosing our food now. We can always substitute rice with potato or bread or instant noodle," Bogor citizen, Nurhayati shared, Thursday (28/5/2015).

"I usually bought just 1 pack of noodles, now I purchase 2," she continued.

A mini market owner in Bogor, Dwi claimed that not many people are willing to buy rice anymore which contributed to the 30% reduction of its sales.

He said that people resorted to buying instant noodles instead in trying to play safe.

"The rice I sell is real, it is not a fake like the ones reported in Bekasi. Usually within the range of 2 weeks, as many as 15 bags of rice would sold out. Now no one wants to buy them," Dwi said. (Akp/Ein)
