Bali Prison Accidentally Sets Free the Wrong Prisoner out of Jail

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Kerobokan Correctional Institution in Denpasar, Bali has just released one of its inmates who reportedly has reached completion in serving the sentences given. 

This procedure is not uncommon in such place as many prisoners are jailed for considerably mild charges which allow them to be freed after spending a short period of time inside the institution.

It is uncommon however, for the officers inside such institution to release the wrong prisoner. 

This is what has happened in the Kerobokan Correctional Institution last week on Friday 15 May 2015. 

The Head of Kerobokan prison, Sudjonggo confirmed his institution’s fatal mistake of unfortunately setting the wrong prisoner free. 

He claimed that there were two prisoners with the same name and apparently the officer assigned involuntarily mixed up the two individuals which led to the release of the wrong one.

"They have the same name, the two of them were given the initials CA. We were suppose to release the one who were sentenced for 7 months imprisonment but turns out we set the one with unfinished 9 year sentence free," Sudjonggo told Liputan6.com, Bali, Wednesday (20/5/2015).

He realized that such mistake is too fatal to tolerate and in trying to assure that the situation is under control and for the wrong prisoner to be located quickly, his team is said to have coordinated with the local police. (Akp/Ein)
