Indonesian 'Rigel 933' Warship Viewed as the Best in Asia

The survey vessel excels other warships in Asia as it is equipped with a touch of sophistication from its Hydro-Oceanography data provider.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta After spending 50 days sailing out in the open sea from Les Sables d'Olonne port in France, the Indonesian 'Rigel 933' warship (KRI) finally arrived at the JICT II port situated in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta. 

The warship departed from France on March 26 2015 and was led by its navy leader, Commander Wirda Prayogo. 

The vessel carried as many as 30-cabin crew from the Indonesian Navy team.

KRI Rigel 933 is the Indonesian Navy's (TNI AL) most favourite and honoured vessel which functions as the Hidro- oceanography data provider. 

Such data gives information about the mapping of the ocean that is of a great importance for sailing navigation.

The Indonesian Defence Ministry is working together with OCEA Vessel company originating from France to make the Rigel 933 warship different from others. 

Different is seen in terms of its additional and valuable function in providing sailing navigation.

Rigel 933 Indonesian warship has been viewed as the most sophisticated and advanced underwater survey ship in Asia.

"France gave KRI Rigel 933 to Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) with the hope of strengthening its power especially in the archipelago region. The vessel has a number of valuable abilities that differentiate it from other kind of vessels. It can perform survey and mapping of the ocean and also capable of collecting data," the Head of Staff from the Indonesian Navy Department, Ade Supandi explained, Friday (15/5/2015).

The warship is also seen to be a useful mode of transportation for military operation and Search and Rescue mission. (Akp/Ger)
