DVI Team Deployed in Search of Missing RI Mountain Climbers

Indonesian Police-Foreign Ministry have administered the mobilisation of DVI and SAR teams into Nepal to find missing Indonesian victims.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Indonesia is determined to exert all its power to help alleviate the situation in Nepal following the devastating 7,9 magnitude earthquake which calamitously shook the nation and caused for the death of more than 7.000 people.

One of Indonesia’s efforts includes the deployment of 2 members from Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team which was organized by the Indonesian Police (Polri).

The two DVI members are given the task to evacuate and identify 3 Indonesians, who reportedly went missing in the mountainous area of Nepal where they went for a hike shortly after the tremors occurred.

"The two DVI members, Eko Yunianto from South Sulawesi Police Health Department and Faizal from Riau Police Health Department are obliged to evacuate and identify the bodies of the 3 missing Indonesians," Police Officer Krisna Murti informed, Jakarta, Wednesday (13/5/2015).

Krisna further informs how the two members will be given 7 days to fulfil their mission. However, there is a very likely possibility for both members presence in the region to be extended.

This is primarily because they have to remain updated with the continually developing and progressing situations in the region which may lead to the recovery of other valuable findings.

The evacuation team sent and coordinated by the Indonesian Foreign Ministry will join into their mission as well.

"So the team sent by Indonesian government will not work on its own. They will also have to coordinate with the local authority there. The Indonesian team main priority is to find the missing Indonesians," he explained. (Akp/Tnt)
