Indonesian Workers Entrap in China's Human Trafficking Business

The number of Indonesian workers that have become subjects of illegal business in China shows a worrying escalation.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Prostitution and human trafficking business is not uncommon in every country in the world.

It is even more overwhelming to know that it has grown into an international vocation with many subjects of human trafficking entrap in the forbidden global network.

The Indonesian Embassy in China has sent home as many as 40 of its citizens, who were caught working illegally since January 2015.

The number of Indonesian citizens subjugated from human trafficking in China escalates to a worrying rate.

Consequently, Indonesia decides to gradually unravel those who have been caught involved or become the subjects to such illegal business and deport them back home.

"Metaphorically speaking, this issue has reached its peak like it is on tip of the iceberg. It is only a matter of time before it explodes," Indonesian Ambassador to China and Mongolia, Soegeng Rahardjo shared in Beijing on Monday (11/5/2015).

Ambassador Soegeng shared, how the Chinese government does not allow for any migrant worker to be employed in areas apart from Hong Kong and Macau.

Regardless of the strict policy limiting foreign workers to only get jobs in two specific places, the human trafficking issue of Indonesian workers in mainland China is particularly difficult to address.

"What is more shocking is that there is a blatant indication showing a cooperative gesture between the victims and the human traffickers or the organization that manage it. In other words, the victims actually accept and willing to be employed in such illegal business," Ambassador Soegeng explained.

Ambassador Soegeng said that the embassy is coordinating with the Chinese government to address such issue, by finding the culprit behind such business which will be followed by the capturing of the victims who decided to compromise with them. (Akp/Tnt)
