US Ambassador: Jokowi's Programs Attract American Investors

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Liputan6.com got the chance to sit down and discuss a broad range of topic with the American Ambassador to Indonesia, Robert O Blake Jr on Wednesday afternoon (6/5/2015). 

Mr. Blake stated that the relationship between Indonesia and The U.S is a strong one with both nations enjoying mutually beneficial cooperation in many sectors.

He specifically shared how security, energy and education sectors are viewed to be the most defining factors that make the relationship between the two nations a desirably strategic one.

"Our relationship is most strong in the sector of security, energy and education," he informed Liputan6.com on special interview.

He further shared how the relationship is greatly enhanced with the presence of 'reformed programs' initiated by Indonesian President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and the government under him. 

"American investors are particularly interested to invest in Indonesia especially with Jokowi's reformed programs", he continued.

Security cooperation between the two nations is also one binding factor that continues to be maintained. 

When asked about whether or not there is a joint US- Indonesia force in trying to safeguard both nations from extremist or radical groups, Ambassador Blake said that Indonesia does not need the help of the U.S in securing the population from misleading and radicalized teachings of these notorious groups.

“Indonesia is a democratic country”, he explained suggesting the fact that each Indonesian citizen has the access to knowledge of what is right and wrong and therefore capable in addressing such issue alone. (Akp/Ein)
