Commander Moeldoko initiates Military Police Status Upgrade

Military Police (Pom) from Indonesian Armed Forces now has earned an upgraded status as legitimate organisation.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - The Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) has restructured what is now legitimately known as Military Police (Pom).

Pom itself has existed for a considerable period of time but its legitimization as an official organization became widely acceptable now.

Pom has the responsibility as the commanding body of 3 units from TNI which include the ground force, navy and air force.

Pom possesses higher and more respectable authority as commanders of the three units than the commanding officers in each single unit.

In the future, Pom TNI will be led under the command of General Maliki Mift.

TNI Commander Moeldoko views the legitimization of Pom as necessary especially with the threats to national security escalates, in number as time progresses and the threats come in varying form.

It is imperative to have a special force that could secure the nation in any kind of climate and terrain.

"Pom TNI alone has existed for quite a long time. What we are doing to it right now is upgrading its status, making it a legitimate body to perform their duty," Commander Moeldoko explained at the TNI Headquarter, East Jakarta, Monday (4/5/2015).

The launching of Pom as a legitimate organization was led by Commander Moeldoko himself and was attended by the head of Staff of Ground Force, Gatot Nurmantyo, Head of Navy Staff, Ade Supandi, and the Head of Air Force Staff, Agus Supriatna. (Akp/Tnt)
