Jokowi to Monitor Bandung Preparation for Asia-Africa Conference

Indonesian President is scheduled to pay a visit to Bandung in trying to monitor the preparation progress for 60th Asia-Africa conference.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Indonesia will be the host country for the upcoming 60th Asia-Africa Conference Commemoration from 19 to 24 of April 2015.

The Indonesian government has exerted all its available capacity on preparatory stage in trying to ensure the event goes smoothly.

With the event scheduled to take place at both Jakarta and Bandung, it is undisputable that the two cities are currently preoccupied with the establishment of enhanced security measures around the perimeter.

The City of Bandung Mayor, Ridwan Kamil informs Bandung's 90% readiness in welcoming foreign delegations from various Asian and African nations. He further assures that the preparation will be 100% done soon.

"Preparations for 60th Asia-Africa Conference Commemoration in Bandung has reached 90% thus far," Mayor Ridwan Kamil shared at the CSIS research institution office, Jakarta, Tuesday (7/4/2015).

"We didn't encounter challenges that we couldn't handle during the process where we physically-transformed the city of Bandung. The final preparation now focuses on the painting of the sidewalks. This is the final stage of our preparatory measures prior to the foreign delegations arrival," he continued.

According to Mayor Ridwan Kamil, President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo is scheduled to pay a visit to the city as to monitor the progress of such preparation.

Mayor Ridwan Kamil however, did not give a specific information regarding the date for the planned visitation.

Similar to the central government in Jakarta, the government of Bandung has spent months preparing for the long-awaited event. Mayor Ridwan Kamil ambitiously envisions a city that is much cleaner, cooler, nicer than it was before.

"I want to prove that Bandung can appear more progressive and cooler than it was before," he concluded. (Akp/Tnt)
