Police Criminal Investigation Agency Reveals 2 UPS 'Corruptors'

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Just recently, Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok revealed alleged corruption-case involving the usage of 2014 regional budget (APBD DKI) on Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) at a number of schools in Jakarta. 

The investigating officer has previously held a session concerning this at the court on 27 March 2015.

The Sub-Directorate Head of Corruption case from the Indonesian Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim), Muhammad Ikram revealed the verdict of the trial. 

The verdict shows that Alex Usman is the prime suspect for the corruption case on UPS.

"Corruption Directorate from Bareskrim has issued Sprin.dik-70.a/III/2015/Tipidkor with the date 23 March 2015 and investigation letter no Sprin.dik071.a/III/2015/Tipidkor with the date 23 March 2015 for Alex and Zaenal’s case," Ikram shared through a written statement in Jakarta, Monday (30/3/2015).

Ikram explained how the two defendants have been named as suspects for corruption- case where they manipulate the 2014 regional budget for UPS in 25 schools in Jakarta.

The two suspects are punishable in accordance to Law Section number 2 and 3 in the Act no 31 year of 1999, regarding the eradication of corruption as has been adjusted to the Indonesian Act no 20 year of 2001 regarding the eradication of corruption Section 55 no 1 KUHP.

According to the current chairman of KPK, Johan Budi, the reports yielded by the governor has already been investigated.

"The reports that were given to us will be further investigated. Right now it is being verified so that we are able to find out whether it is valid or not and whether or not there should be the furtherance for legal process to it," Johan Budi said through a short statement, Jakarta, Thursday 5 March.

Johan further explains how in the reports given, there are information about misuse of the regional budget for matters that need to be taken into account. 

He thinks there is an uninterruptible power supply placed on a number of schools in Jakarta. He also explains how there are also the misuses of this budget for many things from 2012 through to 2014.

"What Ahok reported to us was not only limited to the information regarding the UPS but also the misuses of the budget from 2012 through to 2014. UPS was only a small part of it, that is why it is important for us to dig deeper into the situation," Johan added.

Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or commonly known as Ahok reported the alleged misuse of regional budget on the 27th of February 2015 to KPK. 

He believes that the misuse of the budget costs the nation as much as Rp 12,1 trillion each year. (Akp/Tnt)
