Jokowi: History Teaches Us Violence Never Solved Any Problem

President Jokowi's visitation in China reminded him of the subjugations the two nations have gone through due to violence.

Liputan6.com, Beijing - During his visit in Beijing, China, President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo personally requested for the diplomatic relations between Indonesia and China to be greatly enhanced.

The ambition intensified as this year, both nations will be celebrating the 65th anniversary of the two nations relationship which has been developed based on shared understanding, culture, economic needs and many other equally crucial aspects that constitute the two nations' well-being.

"China is a close friend to Indonesia, more than just a friend, the relationship is a lot closer than that. Not just a strategic partner to us, China is very much comprehensive and it completes us as a nation," President Jokowi informed during a press conference with China's President Xi Jinping on Thursday 26 March 2015 at the Great Hall of People, Beijing, as quoted from setkab.go.id.

A number of Indonesian Ministers and other influential people have also attended the press conference session.

There were the Minister of Economic Affairs, Sofyan Djalil, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno L.P Marsudi, Minister of State-Owned-Enterprises, Rini Soemarno, Minister of Trade, Rahmat Gobel, Cabinet’s Secretary, Andi Widjajanto, Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Commander, Moeldoko and the head of BKPM, Franky Sibarani.

Security issues was among many of the issues hotly discussed during President Jokowi’s visitation there.

President Jokowi said, with the 70th year anniversary of celebrating the ending of World War II just around the corner, Indonesia would further vocalize its endeavour to promote peace to address worldwide issues.

Both Indonesia and China have gone through a series of subjugations from preceding wars. Both nations realized that it was not a desirable state of feeling when that occurred.

Many casualties from the event and a lot to sacrifice for the interest of only certain people who cannot assure our happiness.

Therefore, Indonesia, according to President Jokowi, will show the world the consequences of continuing warfare in whatever forms that are being presented nowadays.

"History teaches us how violence never successfully solved any problem," President Jokowi explained. (Akp/Tnt)
