Jakarta Parking Meter Expected to Generate Rp 100 Million A Day

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Parking meter has become of Jakarta government prioritized programs which is now under development. Should the program is done effectively and efficiently, it could generate up to Rp 100 million per day.

The areas of Sabang in Central Jakarta and Kelapa Gading in  north Jakarta have now applied the system of parking meter and ought to be the example of other areas to follow. Initially Sabang collected only Rp 500 thousand a day.

Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama along with the private companies at the location evaluated the system through Operational Cooperation (KSO). 

The Jakarta government will be benefited more using the KSO system applied. "The one in Sabang, we only get 30% of it. So far it is Rp 10 million per day," Governor Ahok informed at the City Hall, Jakarta, Thursday (26/3/2015).

As for Kelapa Gading, Governor Ahok claimed that before the KSO system was applied, the area only profited by Rp 1,2 million per day. 

With the KSO system applied, Governor Ahok predicted that the income would stretch out to Rp 50 to 100 million a day.

"There are many thugs who takeover the parking lot. We should be more careful in safeguarding these areas so they don't get the profit. The system has not been applied correctly and effectively, once it is, there will be no thugs and other areas should follow," Governor Ahok concluded. (Akp/Ein)
