Another AirAsia QZ8501 Deceased Passenger Recovered

SAR team never gives up on the mission towards finding what was left from AirAsia QZ8501. The team is reported to have discovered 4 bodies.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Another body suspected to be coming from the crash of AirAsia QZ8501 has been recovered. The body was found floating around the Majene sea, West Sulawesi, Thursday (29/01/2015). The body that was recovered at 22.30 pm local time was dragged along by the swift current and high waves towards the area of Sirindu beach, Kecamatan Pamboang, Kabupaten Majene.

 As shown on Liputan 6 Siang SCTV, Friday (30/01/2015), Joint Basarnas team has recovered at least 4 more deceased passengers in the last three days of the mission. The recovery of the bodies also inclue the discovery of other objects or debris believed to belong to the crashed AirAsia QZ8501.

The four recovered bodies along with the debris are speculated to have been dragged alongside the Karimata strait to new places. It went from Karimata strait, Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan, to Majene ocean, West Sulawesi. The SAR team and a number of fishermen around the area discovered the four bodies. The people from Kecamatan Pamboang, Sendana and Tubo also reported their findings.

Due to the recent finding, SAR team then focuses their search around Majene area in hope of finding more bodies or debris belonging to the aircraft. It is highly possible that many bodies were dragged somewhere else due to extreme weather.

The focus of the search expanded to several places which include Banggae, Pamboang, Tubo and Sendana. These are the spots where the four bodies recovered. The team believes that there is still hope in finding the rest of the passengers.

AirAsia QZ8501 planned to travel from Juanda International Airport Surabaya to Changi Airport, Singapore. However, the plane lost contact with the Air Traffic Controller at around 06.17 am local time. The aircraft is reported to have crashed around the Java sea, near Karimata strait on 28 December 2014. The plane was carrying 155 passengers along with 7 cabin crew. Search and rescue personnel have been deployed in search of what was left from the crash. Along the way, the team has recovered bodies, tail part of the aircraft, black box, body part of the aircraft, debris and belongings of the passengers. (Akp/Ein)
