Indonesian Hospital in Gaza Opens in February 2015

Liputan6.com, Gaza The Indonesian Hospital in Gaza, Palestine will be officially consecrated. The hospital was built out of the funds gathered from the public. The Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) Indonesia organizer Dr. Sarbini Abdul Murad said the hospital will be scheduled for opening in February 2015.

“The building’s physical condition is good and convenient, the medical equipments are all ready to be used,” said a member of the Presidium of MER- C Indonesia during his short encounter with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdurrahman Mohamad Fachir at the Ministry of Foreign Relations, Pejambon, Jakarta, Friday (11/21/2014).

The idea of building the hospital originated from those who in 2008 through to 2009 dedicate themselves into humanitarian aid mission bringing aid kit and medicines from Indonesia for the victimized Gaza citizens. Eventually, they put their ambition into reality which now is to be known as the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza. Dr. Rustam S Pakaya led this heroic gesture.

After a thorough development planning, the people who have raised their funds can now sigh in relief to know that the hospital that is located in Bayt Lahiya, North Gaza will be officially opened in February 2015.

Sarbini shares how many issues halted the completion of the hospital. This includes the access for the volunteers as well as the distribution of goods. MER-C volunteers and the goods need to get into Gaza by passing through the Rafah gate which is the border of Egypt and Gaza. This area is not particularly easy to pass through.

Due to that unfortunate condition, he expects Indonesian Government’s help in expediting the mobility of goods and the people from Egypt to Gaza so that the development of the Hospital can finish sooner. (Akp/Ein)
